Meet The Owners
Brown House Properties is a multi-generational, family-owned business that has proudly served our community since 1979, now caring for a growing community of over 450 units. Our work is rooted in a simple belief: housing and care should feel personal, meaningful, and like home.
That belief inspired our family to create this assisted living facility, a 34-bed community nestled in a historic Sea Captain’s house along the Kennebec River. More than just a residence with assistance, it’s a place where laughter echoes through the halls, neighbors gather over coffee, and the aroma of home-cooked meals drifts from the kitchen. This project is close to our hearts—our passion and our promise to extend the warmth of family to those we serve.
As for us, we’re Chris and Lindsey Burrill. Along with running the business, we homeschool our two children and embrace a life centered on family, adventure, and connection to the outdoors. Whether it’s hiking through the Maine wilderness, traveling to new places, or simply spending time together in nature, we carry those same values of togetherness, curiosity, and care into everything we do at Brown House Properties and this Assisted Living facility.
From our family to yours—welcome. We’re honored to share this journey with you.

Sue also served as Policy Coordinator for the Office of Aging and Disability Services at the Maine Department of Health and Human Services, where she helped shape policies impacting seniors statewide. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Mental Health and Human Services and a master’s in Healthcare Administration. She is currently pursuing her Doctor of Health Administration, with her focus on health policy and elder advocacy.
Her exceptional service has been recognized with the Mid-Maine Chamber of Commerce’s Customer Service Stardom Award. We are honored to have Sue lead the way in providing a warm, welcoming, and professionally operated home away from home for our residents.
